Waited for Soothing Sunday to post but really happy about this. I’m making a battle jacket and painted one of the pockets Virgin Prunes-themed; I posted it on Instagram few days ago. None other than *THE* GAVIN FRIDAY (my favorite Virgin Prunes member) liked the post and put it on his story!
I'm really happy that this happened to me and I never thought I'd ever be noticed by a favorite member of one of my favorite goth groups ever so this is just so exciting to me and I really wanted to share š

AI generated album covers and incorrect music tagging on bandcamp are making looking for goth music next to impossible.
Everywhere I go on there you're either wading through AI generated album covers that instantly makes me not want to ever listen to your music, or it's tagged so poorly that I often find rap or just pop music being labeled as 'goth'. Bandcamp was and continues to be the easiest way to find goth music for me and have found some great bands on there that are still some of my favorites, but in recent months it's become a minefield to peruse anything there and a stroke of luck to find anything that hits.
The AI generated images just feel like a betrayal of the DIY ethos that should be integral to goth and deathrock and no goth musician should ever succumb to the diminishing and quick returns you get from them.
Just needed to vent. This shit is demoralizing.

My family doesn’t supports or understand my goth interests and it’s making me feel very lonely
I've been interested in the goth subculture for a while, a few days ago, I decided to listen to the music and, omg, I've feel in love with it, I've easliy spend several hours just listening to goth music, it's one of my favorite genres now and I'm even planning on watching some goth movies. I'm also planning on dressing in goth style, but here's the problem, I'm mostly an indoors person, so I've very few friends and the only people I talk with frequency is my family. I decided to reveal my interests and my plan for my goth outfit today, expecting support and unfortunaley, as you've guessed, all I was meet with is mockery, harsh judgement and them claiming them won't help me with anything, they even said that I'll look "horrifiying" or a "freak" or even saying stuff like "imagine you going out like this in public, looking like a vampire, if you want it, fine, but let's agree that's weird and I don't want any part of that", this has made me very sad and also very lonely, it's makes me think that I'll never meet someone that respects or have the same interests as me and that people are only going to see me as a "weirdo" (not helping that I've only meet like, 2 alt ppl besides me in my entire life), I can't put in words how this has broken my heart. I'm planning on revealing my goth interests to my very few friends, I hope they understand me and don't judge or mock me. Sorry in case my english is broken (I'm brazilian) and sorry for the long post, I just wanted to vent

Making friends
Hey everyone, kind of an odd question. If you (or a goth in general) were in a bookstore and saw someone reading something you find interesting (true crime, occult stuff, etc) would you be likely to start a chat with that person? Iām asking because Iāve found that my local bookstore hosts a bunch of goth/alt customers and I wanna make some friends hanging out there. Thanks for reading š

Making a playlist for me an my goth mom as a small gift before I head back to college
As the title says I'm currently making a playlist for my mom, I do really like goth music but I'm more of a punk myself so I really don't know any good songs. Here are some examples of songs I know we both like and I plan on looking into the bands further and seeing what else they have made but yeah. Please help š song or band recommendations would be very greatly appreciated.
(And apologies if any of the screenshotted songs aren't actually goth, I really don't know)

making my own goth party, completely lost on what to do
hi iām (f19) located in an area where thereās literally no goth nights/clubs/events at all and i really want to go to one. the closest one that iāve heard about are hours away and itās not that frequent so thatās just not an option for me. i was watching one of my favorite youtubers and she said something along the lines of āif thereās no goth nights near you, consider just making your own.ā and i was like āyeah letās do it.ā i asked some of my other alternative friends (metal heads, grunge, emo, etc) if theyād be interested and theyāre down too. i guess itāll just be more of an alternative party now since everyone has their own niche. anyways enough rambling, i donāt know how to go about this. i canāt have it at my house and iām pretty sure they canāt have it at theirs. i donāt have enough money to rent out a space and itās too cold to have it outside at like a park or something. iām also very shy iāve always just kept to myself growing up although i really did want more friends, iām nervous that people would say that theyād show up and then itās only me and my best friend there (thatās happened to me before). the people i invited itās like we talk every now and then but thatās really all yk ? iām feeling quite discouraged idk what to do iāve never done this before. iām working on the playlist and atm itās mostly goth songs that i like, but now iām worried that everyone else wonāt like it and then they wonāt dance. iām so confused 😭 i apologize for this being all over the place i just- yeah.
TLDR: i donāt have a place to have the party, iām not sure if anyone would come, and iām not sure if theyād like the music. iām very confused and conflicted.

Trouble Making Friends.
I dunno if it's me, but I have the hardest time making goth friends. I'm newish to my local scene, it's very active and I go to alot of the same events, I dance, I sit amongst the crowds, but besides the passing compliment on my outfit, that's as far as it goes. I've observed people stick to their friends group and not venture out. Some regulars have recognized my attendance and say hi, maybe add on social media but go back to their friends group.
I went out recently and almost none talked to me besides compliments on my fashion. It's nice and i say thank you but I crave more.
I admit I'm shy and I should take the first move but last night literally everyone was already in a conversation with their friend group or couples so I ended up talking to no one.
Help? What am I doing wrong? Its getting quite lonely in these bat caves.

making DIY patches!
i saw someone making diy patches for their jacket on r/punk and i wanted to do the same but mainly featuring the goth bands i like.
i got an old jean jacket from my stepdad to put the patches on, and also some old black denim jeans to cut up to actually make into the patches. iām gonna use acrylic paint but i am kinda worried that it will flake off, so i might hold off on the painting part.
also the first patch iām making is the cure, i cannot help it. theyāre too good.
